I am posting this from ecto as recommended by Nellus and I must say I quite like it. The custom tags are a good idea but finding a shortcut key that is not already used seems to be a problem. Aha I have discovered that I was in Rich Text mode once you switch to HTML mode things are a lot easier with the Custom Tags on a little menu. The URL from clipboard is handy function. A menu for smilies would be nice! 
I have also installed Nisus Thesaurus which provides the ability to do a Thesaurus look-up of words that you have highlighted using the Services menu in MacOS X. I would prefer it on the contextual menu but I guess you can’t have everything. In fact I have just discovered that you defiantly can’t have ‘everything’ as Nisus Thesaurus return this when you look up ‘everything’ : ‘The word “everything” is unknown’ Ah well I will still give it a chance.

I’ve yet to sample the offline blogging bliss of ecto, but I did grab the thesaurus the other day. I’ve used it once already and feel that my need for the one on Dictionary.com may well diminish thanks to the accessibility. I’ve yet to challenge it’s content, but give me time…
