“Hunter S. Thompson the pioneer of ‘Gonzo Journalism’ has committed suicide at his Aspen home” This was basically the news what I woke up to this morning. BBC News
Now I don’t claim to have read much of his stuff and I have never even seen the film ‘Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas’ but I did many years ago read an interview article with him called ‘Fear & Loathing in Aspen’ I think it was in the Observer magazine. The description of ‘Gonzo Journalism’ in the article caught my imagination and although I had no out let until recently when I started blogging I have always enjoyed reading and writing articles written in the ‘Gonzo’ form.
In a certain way I guess within the ‘Gonzo’ form of writing there is a honesty in its dishonesty.
These are just first thoughts, early in the morning, and I will add more links later in the day or tomorrow when I get a chance.
