I have just received the BBC news e-mail alert announcing the death of George Best age 59.
It is a sad end to a life that had great talent, although from what was being said this morning at least his suffering of the past few months is over.
I was lucky to see George play for Hibs once and even though he was past his prime at that point he still outshone everyone on the pitch that day and almost all the players that I have ever seen play live or on TV the only one real exception being Pele.
When you saw George Best play you could easily understand why some call it “The Beautiful Game”
