For the last couple of days the Apple rumour mill has been going mad about images of the alleged new video iPod or possibly a Mac Tablet. The first one I came across was via Engadget and now there is a second image on MacShrine.
Now a video iPod personally I have very little use for. I walk or drive to work so watching videos on the move is not something I can do. At home I have more than enough televisions and I have never been a huge DVD or video buyer. Another reason that I am not interested in a video iPod is that I live in the UK and the TV shows that I may be interested in, well okay Battlestar Galactica 
is not avaliable for download from the UK store, no TV programmes are.
A Mac Tablet is something I would be interested in, however I realise that a full system running Mac OS X would really just be an expensive iBook (Mac Book) and would not sell.
What I think would be a good idea would be a device, like the one pictured on sites above, which did its video thing but could also surf the web through WiFi. I could blog and get my web mail wherever I could find a WiFi hotspot. That is the main reason I have considered getting as PSP and I have looked at the recent news that the Nintendo DS is to get a Web Browser.
The reasons I don’t think the the images are the new video iPod are that Apple legal will have usually jumped all over the original sites by now. Of course they could be going for the double bluff but I doubt it. The images are not ‘Photochops’ as people seem to be calling such things, everyone seems to agree on this.
However they do look like a display screen that has been removed from its device rather than being a whole item. Someone starts the thing off by putting an a sticker with an Apple style product code on a screen, someone else recognises what it really is and take another picture and has some more fun.
I will be very surprised if this is one of the announcements on Tuesday, however if it is and it can surf the web I’d consider buying one.
